I’m passionate about designing products that make a difference in peoples’ lives. Design has the ability to inspire and to delight. I am a natural born designer…it’s just the way I think. I love good design and have developed an “eye” for it after all of these years.
I’ve worked many years as a graphic designer on the communications team at the Missouri Baptist Convention, Jefferson City, Missouri. MBC is the state office serving the nearly 1,900 Missouri (Southern) Baptist churches located across the state. During my time at MBC, I have served in a couple of different roles, one as a graphic designer, but also as a graphics services manager, where I supervised and directed in-house designers, student intern designers, a duplication center, and a mail room.
I joined the MBC staff in 1988. Before coming to MBC, I worked at the Museum of Art and Archeology, University of Missouri-Columbia, where I served as a graphic designer and exhibits preparator, designing publications and fabricating art exhibits.
A Missouri native, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry, Fisheries & Wildlife (1985) and Bachelor of Fine Art degree (1987) at the University of Missouri–Columbia.
My wife, Pam, and I, make our home in Columbia, Missouri. We have two grown children, Daniel and Anna.
I love being active outdoors, taking long bike rides on the Katy trail, running in the fall, and watching the sunset and the stars come out while walking in the evenings. My other hobbies include skiiing, backpacking, and fly fishing.
I also design and build traditional archery bows, including longbows and recurves. I have drawn out all of my bow designs as blueprints, and I am working hard to finish writing two how-to booklets about making them. Information and photos of my bows are available at my bow making blog at buildyourownbow.com.
