Heartline magazine was a quarterly magazine that was published a couple of years and then changed it’s name to Missouri Baptist Life magazine. The purpose of the magazine was promoting training opportunities to Missouri Baptist pastors and church lay leaders.

Working with unlimited color can be both an opportunity and a challenge. Heartline/MoBaptist Life was certainly a fun project featuring beautiful photography and lots of Photoshop special effects. Readers have come to expect this in magazines and this publication “did not disappoint.”

My goal was to simplify the layouts as much as possible to provide contrast between “busy” areas and “plain” areas to increase legibility.

Without a doubt, the most fun I ever had making the magazine was the day I cooked waffles and pancakes in my kitchen, took the photos for the cover and spreads with my camera…and then got to eat the pancakes and waffles…lol.
